Archive for December, 2010

I woke up early on Christmas morning and rushed into the lounge, like an excited child hearing the chimes from an ice cream van. I had the joy of finding Microsoft Kinect under my tree.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your opinion)  I don’t have any unboxing videos for you, but there are plenty on YouTube.

Hello antiherogamers!

As the festive season is drawing to a close and everyone prepares for one last ‘hurrah’ on New Year’s Eve; many people around the globe look forward to what 2011 will bring for the world of video games. The schedule for next year is looking very sweet already and as such I think it would be a good time to have a look at five specific games that I know I won’t be able to do without next year! It’s probably a good time to explain how we’re going to look at games here at antiherogaming. Currently it’s just myself and Fitz looking at games, passing on our thoughts and feelings on them, and other things gaming related. As much as it pains us to admit it, we’re not going to be able to look at every game out there. There’s just far too many of them for us to handle. That said; what we will say about the games we look at will be honest and will hopefully be fun and informative to read. If you ever want us to look at, or give a specific view on a game, or something gaming related then drop us an email.

Merry Xmas From Antiherogaming!

Posted: December 25, 2010 by CptToffer in General

Hello Gamers!

If like you’re anything like me, Christmas represents a time of cheer, family’s, friend’s and of course: Video Games. I’ve been lucky enough to get the new Assassins Creed game. You can expect a report on that in due course. I’ve still got presents to open so I’ll keep you updated. I know what Fitz is getting aswell but he’s not had them yet so for now I’ll keep that to myself.

Wherever you are, and whoever you are with, from myself and Fitz, Antiherogaming wishes you a very Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Don’t forget to come visit us in 2011 in what is looking like a very promising year.

Good evening antiherogamers!

If you live in Britain right now you’ll know we are experiencing some snow, and if it’s two inches or fifteen the country’s done the proper British thing and gone into total meltdown at the idea of having to cope with something outside our normal routine. Finally the end is in sight (please god let it be) and we can focus on this weekend, which is Christmas.

Hello everyone, welcome to antiherogaming!

First off a big thanks to everyone that’s visited so far. The response in the first week has been staggering with over 4000 people coming to see what the fuss was about! A special thanks to those of you who took the time to comment. I’ll always make sure I respond to each and every one of you. If you want to contact me directly you can use the new email address of antiherogaming@hotmail.co.uk. Speaking of which it isn’t just me now. I’d like to introduce my best friend Fitz who will be acting behind the scenes to make this place as user-friendly as possible, while ensuring the articles get out. This place would have all the appeal of a rusted old car if he wasn’t clearing up after me, so when you look at the shiny blog,  think of him won’t you. It will make him happy.

Onto today’s thoughts, which revolve around “Casual and Hardcore gaming.” As far as topics go, this has been talked about more and more in recent times, and while the difference between the two groups maybe very clear to some, I believe there is a grey area that is being all together missed. Let us begin…

Hello all and welcome to another edition of antiherogaming!

Today, while fighting the battle between mankind and the common cold (it’s kicking my ass, seriously a BFG 3000 wouldn’t go amiss here), I’m going to speak about my feelings about regenerating health. As you will come to learn over getting to know me through these blogs, I’ve been gaming for the better part of 20 years and as such as seen a lot of trends come and go. However this one seems to be more resilient then a case of herpes. Recently we’ve seen a few games move away from it, but it’s still knocking around and I’m going to give an overview and an opinion on the whole thing. (more…)

Hello all, and welcome to the first official gaming related post for antiherogaming! Woo *pops party popper*

My first post will be a bit of a special one really as last night I had the pleasure of attending a special event in London hosted by IGN after I won a competition to attend and have a go at Dead Space 2 before it’s release next month! After combating Kent and London’s fantastic transport system (please note the sarcasm) myself and my good friend Fitz arrived at the Gallery Soho.

The event was pretty cool, around forty to fifty people in the second floor of a studio with around ten PS3’s set up playing a twenty-minute demo. Apparently it was the same demo from the Eurogamer event a month or so ago, but seeing as I don’t go around winning competitions on a daily basis I had no idea what to expect. There was also a free bar (always drink responsibly children, especially if it’s a free bar) which was very much appreciated.

Antiherogaming has (crash)landed!

Posted: December 17, 2010 by CptToffer in General

Hello one and all to the maiden post of antiherogaming! This first post is designed to basically explain why what you are currently reading even exists. I personally like it when the author introduces him or herself when starting out so here goes. My name is Chris and I currently reside in Maidstone, Kent. My aim here at least to begin with is to post every other day about any thoughts, feelings, and general musings about the world of Video Gaming. It’s a passion of mine and has been for some time. I also enjoy creative writing so this whole blogging business seems long overdue. However I’m about as computer literature as chocolate is fireproof so I’m very much testing the waters with this blogging. For this reason you will have to excuse the rather basic set up and the fact that it’s probably not overly that impressive. That said we’ve all got to start somewhere!
So as stated it’s going to mainly be a Video Gaming blog. I’m not going to keep to this strictly all the time and the odd post may reflect general goings on or something I’ve got knocking around the empty space where my brain should be.

If your reading this chances are at this stage that I’ve asked you to take a look, but if you have stumbled across this please feel free to leave any comments / hints / tips about getting started or just generally say hello.

I think that’s enough for the first post so I’ll leave it there and will be back tomorrow to add my first proper post on antiherogaming!

Chris
