Hello antiherogamers!

A recent announcement has seen the release of the first gameplay trailer for Battlefield 3. This is the third entry into its main series and the first glimpse of a new and improved Battlefield. It looks slick and modern. With the success of it’s other titles, namely the Battlefield Bad Company series, it was only a matter of time before Battlefield 3 was announced. Considering the success of Bad Company 2, especially the multiplayer, up against Call Of Duty Black Ops it shows EA / DICE that gamers want more from an online game.

The announcement has been supported by one of the most visually pleasing and sounding trailers recently released. It looks stunning and from what I’ve seen the game looks to be an excellent but realistic experience. I’m glad that there is going to be a single player campaign as well as a multiplayer. I don’t think that games have to have both but if done correctly it makes the title stronger and more appealing.

Battlefield 3 will have a tough fight on its hands considering its opposition. From the top of my head titles such as Crysis 2, Operation Flashpoint: Red Rising, Rage, Brink, and the possibility of another Call Of Duty title, all possibly within the year.

I hope the release of Battlefield 3 highlights the decline in quality of recent Call Of Duty titles. Battlefield 3 has confirmed 64 person multiplayer. If it brings back the Battle Commander role and the ability to create and issue orders to your squads then it should be able to give COD a real challenge. I hope it sticks to what it does best and doesn’t try to change what the fans what from it.

If anyone has any doubts about the possible quality of this title then watch this trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

It just looks incredible. Everything from the view from the rooftops to the details on the soldiers is highly impressive. Taking out that sniper showed off the impressive Frostbite 2.0 engine aswell.

This is one title that’s jumped to the top of the pre-order list.

Into Oblivion (Again)

Hello antiherogamers!

Despite not having the internet, I’ve kept up with the majority of gaming news. (God bless word of mouth and magazines) and have seen the coverage of “Skyrim” the new Elders Scrolls game.

I bought Oblivion, the previous entry to the series and played it religiously when it first came out and after sinking around 200 hours into it, I lost my saved game to a PC virus. Total fail.

I didn’t play it for some time until now as I thought it due to recent announcement it would be good to go back and finish the game

When it comes to Role Playing Games, ‘ something of a moron. This is because I totally miss the fucking point of them. If im playing an RPG, I generally go for the most human looking character, a male, whose main skills revolve around the use of guns/swords, bartering/speech and generally going for a combat/personality angle.

The thing is I want to break the mould. I want to try something different. I don’t want to play the same person in a different setting over and over.

So, as part of this little experiment I’ve started Oblivion again and will be recording how I get on. I’m going to be well outside my comfort zone and while I won’t be going finding every little quest in the game, there will be enough random run ins and side quests that pull my attention from saving the world.

Look for an update for the next couple of days for my first days in-game!

Have a good week

Hello antiherogamers!

While I’ve been totally cut off from the internet it has given me a lot of time to game, and one game I’ve been playing is Dead Space 2. It is a simply fantastic game, very scary and very action filled. The developers have managed to bring the same sense of dread that the first had with faster paced combat. Rather then write a review of the game I’ve given you a twenty-minute slice of my time in the shoes of the very unfortunate Isaac Clarke.

Honey, Im home!

Hello Antiherogamers.

You may have noticed a considerable lack of posts in the last two months. By considerable lack, I do of course mean none at all. Like I said back in my last post we were moving home so some disruption was to be expected. What I didn’t expect however was such a massive delay and set back in the setup of the internet, so for that you have my apologises.

What you will be happy to hear is that I’ve been offline and busy beavering away at various little articles and projects. I’ve got a good backlog of articles to post, so you should expect the first in the next 48 hours and hopefully a steady stream from there.

You would have noticed that there was also a miss of Februarys hot pick of the month. To make up for this there will be two, one picked by myself and Fitz.

There are going to be a couple of announcements over the next few weeks, so make sure you check regularly for the up and coming information.

Finally check back tomorrow for an interesting spin on an insert from Dead Space 2!

All there is left to say is that Antiherogaming is back in action, and we look forward to resuming normal service in the next two weeks.
